EVLT is a treatment method where we don’t try to remove or tie the abnormal veins. Instead, we heat them using laser energy. The walls of the veins are killed with heat and the dead tissues are naturally absorbed by the body. The abnormal veins are completely destroyed.
Before starting the procedure, we conduct an ultrasound to determine the veins that have to be treated. Our doctors mark those veins so that it becomes easy to identify them during EVLT. The next step is to get inside the veins and for that, we administer a local anesthetic to the patient and pass a wire through the needle to insert it into the vein. Then, we remove the needle and pass a thin plastic tubing over the wire. We also remove the wire after this.
